Emma's 1st Bath

Emma Marie had her first bath tonight. Of course it was interesting trying to give her a bath with Brady trying to get in the tub with her. He wanted to help but he ended up getting himself more wet then her. She looked so cute in her new little bath robe with all that hair. Her navel cord came off this weekend so this was the first time she got to be submerged in the baby bathtub. She is so precious!!

Potty Training

Well, I have lost my mind, but we started potty training this week. Now that we have a new baby to change it makes Brady seem that much bigger and we desperately need him out of diapers. He's doing okay, but I have cleaned up a lot of pee the past two days. I'm going to stick with it and push him really hard this week and see how he does. He did tell me a few times today when he had to go, so that's progress. I am just letting him go around the house in his t-shirt and underwear. He tried several times after dinner to go because he wanted M & M's. Whatever works! He's too funny!

Emma got to meet her great-grandpa Newton this weekend. We went to Bardstown and took him out to eat and then spent some time at his house with grandpa and my aunts. We had a nice weekend and spent some time outside at my parents house. It was great to get out of the house and have other people to entertain Brady for a while. Brady is really a great big brother to Emma already. He worries about her and wants to make sure she's okay when she cries. He wants to kiss her all the time. At my parents house last night after Brady took a bath he decided to ride his little rocking horse. It was hilarious. He will hate this pic when he gets older, but we thought it was cute!

A 2 year old and a 2 week old

Am I going crazy? Oh yes! I didn't realize just how hard it would be to take care of a very active 2 year old and a newborn. With Jason going back to school this week my life has become much harder. Thank God we have such supportive families that are helping us out, but my days have been very long taking care of the two kids on my own. The hardest part is trying to keep up with Brady, especially when I am feeding Emma. And of course he has started doing things he has never done before for attention. He was so used to having everyone's full attention and now he has to compete with Emma for mine. But I have to say he has been a great big brother to Emma so far. He is so sweet to her and is always talking to her and kissing her. When she cries he'll say, "What's wrong? It's okay Emma, I'm here." I know he'll adjust to her and hopefully the attitude and behaviors will go away. We are truly blessed to have two beautiful healthy children, it's just a little overwhelming right now, but I thank God for my babies!

Emma & Brady

Brady has been really good with Emma so far. Now that she's home he has shown more interest in her and really hasn't been too jealous. We are trying to be really patient with him and not get on him for being curious about her. He does not like it when she cries. He'll say, "What's wrong Emma?" And yesterday he said a few cute things. When I was feeding her he said, "Mommy what's Emma doing?" I said "She's eating. Mommy makes milk that she drinks." He said, "Where's my milk?" And I told him it was in the refrigerator. Then he was talking to her in the bouncy seat, which is so funny because he talks to her in such a high pitched voice. Then he was tickling her feet saying "tickle, tickle." When he ate dinner he said he was done and Kelly said, you don't want anymore? And Brady lifted his shirt and acting really silly said, "I'm gonna eat my boobie." Oh boy, we definitely have our hands full. But he is still doing a lot better then I thought. He's okay with me holding her as long as I have room for him on he other side. I took some cute pics of them this morning before Mom and Kelly took him to the zoo. It is such a beautiful day and I'm sure they will have a great time. Plus I'm looking forward to relaxing at home with Emma.

Going home Easter Sunday

Happy Easter! Well, we spent Easter morning in the hospital, but luckily they released us early in the afternoon. Jason and my family took Brady to church and then Jason came & got Emma and I and Brady enjoyed the beautiful day outside until we came home. Mom made an awesome Easter dinner and brought it to our house. It was great to finally be home!

Welcome Emma Marie Abell

Our beautiful baby girl is here. I know you have all being anxiously waiting to know her name. We named her after my dad's mom "Emma" and "Marie" is a combination of my grandmother (Margaret) and Jason's Mammaw (Mary). Plus my aunt Donna's middle name is Marie and she is my Godmother and second mom. Anyway, we finally came up with "Emma Marie Abell." She was 8 lbs. 8.5 oz., 20 in. long with a head full of hair. She was born at 9:30 Friday morning and we were a little worried at first. Everything went great with the cesarian, but when I was waiting for her in recovery Jason came and told me that they were doing a chest X-ray because they thought she had fluid on her lungs. The X-ray showed some fluid that they cleared quickly and possible enlarged heart. My pediatrician felt like it was just a shadow, but wanted to take extra precautions so they ran more tests on her and kept her hooked-up to a heart monitor. She was right, everything was normal, but it was 3:00 Friday afternoon before I got to hold her since I couldn't walk to the neonatal ICU because of the anesthesia. They wheeled me down Friday afternoon, let me hold her and feed her for the first time. Then they finally let her come to my room Friday evening at 8:00, which is when Brady go to meet her. He wasn't really too interested in her at first. He was very excited to see me and was worried about the IV, cords, phone and everything else going on in my room. He was actually really good for Kelly on Friday and that night at my parents house. It was an eventful first day for Emma Marie, but we were very excited!

Baby sister will be here tomorrow

Jason and I spent some quality time with Brady on Thursday night at his favorite place, Funtopia. We wanted it to just be the three of us one last night before the baby.
